Psychological healing in the heart of south Austin.
Brooks Milam, LCSW, LCDC
I work primarily with adult individuals, families, and groups to identify the barriers to achieving their life goals. I specialize in working with people struggling with anxiety, bipolar, depression, codependency, and substance abuse. I offer trauma-informed therapy and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Although EMDR informs my work, it is not the focus of my practice.
Because each person has unique life experiences, challenges, and goals, I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the individual needs of my clients. My approach to therapy draws on my knowledge and experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Theory. Other trauma-focused theories and techniques contribute to my work as well.
I am currently accepting clients for individual therapy. I have a program that provides group education and counseling for family members of substance abusers, which will begin soon. I offer a free 20-minute consultation over the phone or in person.
